I own an ATI x1950xt graphics card. It has some really nice features, one of them that is has a VIVO, Video In Video Out, port which allows my PC to have bidirectional video transfer through a Mini-DIN connector. Using a spitter cable, I can hook up my TV via the scart-port and use it as an auxillary monitor. Running at 600×800 this is all very nice.

However, to make any use of this setup I need a remote control of some kind. Since the PC and TV are in separate rooms, Infra-red devices are out of the question. So, why not use my Nokia N800 as the remote??
To do this I first had to install a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) server on my desktop PC. The best one out there is TightVNC, which is free and even open source. This magnificent piece of software is available on a number of different platforms. On the N800, I had to install a VNC client. The best (and only?) one out there is simply called VNC Viewer, and installs at the click of a button. When running VNC Viewer on the N800 the pointer simply acts a mouse, and the virtual keyboard pops up whenever you need it.
Finally, I got what I wanted: Total control of my PC from the couch:-)

Haha det er fandme god stil. Nu mangler du bare at komme udenom at skulle rejse dig fra sofaen for at hente øl og burger.
