Howto: Change your name in Day of Defeat or Counter-Strike Source

September 3rd, 2008 admin Leave a comment Go to comments

Due to a recent update (July, 2008), changing your name in games such as Counter-Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source by using the regular command

name "H4x0r31337^"

is no longer possible. To make it work again, do the following:

Download these two files

and put them in the folder

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\john@doe.org\day of defeat source\dod\addons

if you are running Day of Defeat Source or in

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\john@doe.org\counter strike source\cs\addons

if you are running Counter-Strike Source. Please note, that if the addons folder it is not allready there, you might have to create it.

Once you have done this, the command

name "H4x0r31337^"

should work once again:-)
