Howto: Download all files of a specific type from a website


In this howto, we will describe how to download all files of a specific type from a website. The first thing you need is to install wget

sudo apt-get install wget


Then, to download all the jpg files from the website at http://www.someulr.com/images/, issue the command

wget -r -np -nd -A.jpg http://www.someulr.com/images/

In detail, the options are
-r : Descent into subdirectories
-np : Do not ascent into parent directories
-nd : Store all files in the same folder
-A.jpg : Only download files of the type .jpg
